Merry Christmas everyone! I can picture the scene now – egg-nog a plenty, wafts of turkey drifting in from the kitchen and flashes of wrapping paper propelled across the room by mischievous animals (just me then?). You might just have awoken to a brand new e-reader, so it’s only right that we flag up the best 4th Estate books to begin building your e-library.
This month we have re-issued the last four books in the Martin Beck Series, by Maj Sjöwall and Per Wahlöö. The new editions have great introductions from the likes of Henning Mankell, Lee Child and Nikki French.
All the titles are also now available as e-books and to get you started with ‘the godparents of Scandinavian crime’ (Jo Nesbo) we have priced the first e-book, ‘Roseanna’ at an amazing 99p.
For a chance to win copies of our newly re-issued ‘Roseanna’, ‘The Man Who Went Up In Smoke’ and ‘The Man in the Balcony’ email 4thestate.publicity@harpercollins.co.uk with your name and address.
The competition is open to UK and Ireland residents only. 5 winners will receive one copy of each book and will be chosen at random on Wednesday 27th July at 3pm, so get your emails in before then!
Richard Shephard interviews Maj Sjowall.
Q: The series has a strong international feel, especially in the first two books, with the influx of tourists in Roseanna and the complex business of passports, hotels and border crossings in The Man Who Went up in Smoke. Did you give them this to expand the canvas, as it were?
