Andrew Whitley

Andrew Whitley is a leading authority on organic baking and food issues. He left London in 1976 to grow his own food on an organic smallholding in Cumbria, and went on to found The Village Bakery, which has won a string of awards, culminating in the Organic Trophy. Andrew has been an occasional contributor to the Radio 4 Food Programme and has written on bread and related matters for specialist journals.

Will Wiles

Will Wiles was born in India in 1978. He lives in London and writes about architecture and design for a variety of magazines. He is the author of three novels, including Care of Wooden Floors and The Way Inn, all published by 4th Estate. The Way Inn was shortlisted for The Encore Award and Care of Wooden Floors won a Betty Trask Award.

Eleanor Wasserberg

Eleanor Wasserberg is a graduate of the Creative Writing Programme at the University of East Anglia. Originally from Staffordshire, she now lives in Norwich.

Michael White

Michael White was a science lecturer before becoming a full-time writer and journalist. He is the author with John Gribbin of the bestselling ‘Stephen Hawking – A Lifetime in Science’. He is a regular contributor to the ‘Sunday Times’, the ‘Observer’,the ‘Daily Telegraph, GQ, Focus’ and ‘New Scientist’.

Fay Weldon

Fay Weldon (1931 – 2023) overcame hard times and odd jobs as a lone parent, before becoming one of the top advertising copywriters of her generation. She moved into TV drama (writing the pilot episode of the iconic series Upstairs, Downstairs in 1971) then turned to novels – including the Booker-shortlisted Praxis (1978) and the feminist classic The Life and Loves of a She-Devil (1983). Fay was a Professor of Writing at Bath Spa University and was made a CBE for services to literature.

Robert Webb

Robert Webb is one of Britain’s most popular comedians. He is one half of the double act Mitchell and Webb, alongside David Mitchell. The duo are best known for starring in the Channel 4 sitcom Peep Show and their award-winning sketch show That Mitchell and Webb Look. They first met at the Footlights in 1993 and collaborated for the 1995 Revue whilst studying at Cambridge University.

James Wilcox

James Wilcox’s stories have appeared in the ‘New Yorker, Avenue’ and ‘Louisiana Literature.’ He is the author of ‘Modern Baptist, North Gladiola, Miss Undine’s Living Room, Sort of Rich, Polite Sex’ and ‘Guest of a Sinner’. He is a graduate of Yale University and a recipient of a Guggenheim fellowship.

Simon Worrall

Simon Worrall has published articles in the Sunday Review, The New Yorker, The Paris Review, The Times Weekend Review, and National Geographic Magazine, among others. He is the author of “The Poet and the Murderer” (2003), a true story about a murderer who forged an Emily Dickinson poem. He lives in East Hampton, New York.

Alex Wheatle

Alex Wheatle is the award-winning author of Brixton Rock which was published in 1999. He spend most of his childhood in care homes and foster families. ‘‘East of Acre Lane’ won the 1999 London Arts Board London Writers’ Award. He has worked with the Book Trust and the London Arts Board to promote literature within the city. He lives in South London with his wife and three children.

David Wroblewski

David Wroblewski lives in Colorado with the poet Kimberly McClintock. ‘The Story of Edgar Sawtelle’ is his first novel.
