His wife, Nancy Abrams, is an award-winning science philosopher, as well as a writer, artist and lawyer whose work has appeared in journals, magazines and books.

Vicky Allan
Vicky Allan grew up on a farm on the Scottish borders. She studied to be a vet at Cambridge before winning the Vogue Talent contest. She has an MA in History of Art from the Courtauld Institute, worked on ‘The Times’ and ‘Sight and Sound’ and is currently Commissioning Editor on ‘Scotland on Sunday’s’ magazine ‘Spectrum’ in Edinburgh.

Kasim Ali was born and raised in Alum Rock, Birmingham. He is the author of the debut novel Good Intentions, has written fiction for BBC Radio 4 and has a column at The Bookseller. His short fiction has been longlisted for the 4th Estate and Guardian 4thWrite Short Story Prize, and Good Intentions was shortlisted for the Mo Siewcharran Prize. He works as an editor in publishing and now lives in London.
