From 4th: 2019 books (pt3)

• Jan 5, 2019 •

2019 sees the release of some brilliant books from 4th Estate – all which we are sure you will absolutely love. Here are just a few that the 4th Estate team are particularly looking forward to, and ones that should be added to your TBR pile right away.

“Greek Gods. Female revenge. Basketball. Pride. Power. All these things come together in Inua Ellams’ fantastical Half-God of Rainfall. It is absolutely brilliant, one of the most original things I’ve read in a long time, and I’m so excited that the hugely talented Inua Ellams has joined 4th Estate.” Out on 4th April.
Liv, Marketing Executive

“The book that I’m most looking forward to is We Must Be Brave by Frances Liardet. I’ve been borderline evangelical about this book, but I think it’s one of the best things I’ve read in years. It’s such a realistic portrayal of the parental love that we can feel for children, even when they aren’t our own. It will likely make you cry (I certainly did) but it doesn’t feel cheap—there’s a depth to the emotion in the writing that doesn’t come along very often.” Out on 7th February.
Mallory, International Sales Director

“I have just read the first draft of How to Fail, Elizabeth Day’s first non-fiction title that is based on her hit podcast series. Mixing memoir and manifesto through personal tales and interviews, it is a hilarious, touching, insightful exploration of what it means to fail, why we shouldn’t be afraid of doing so, and, ultimately, what we can learn from our failures. I can’t wait for it to publish in April.” Out on 4th April.
