Writer and cultural historian Philip Hoare will speak on our physical, spiritual and metaphysical connection with the sea, its birds, and its whales.
His book Leviathan or, The Whale won the 2009 Samuel Johnson Prize. Hoare’s most recent work, The Sea Inside, was published in 2013.
He is Professor of Creative Writing at the University of Southampton, and co-curator, with Angela Cockayne, of the Moby-Dick Big Read.
Philip will also introduce a screening of the acclaimed documentary Leviathan at 3pm.
