Mark Mazower is Professor of History at Columbia University and Birkbeck College London. He has also taught at Sussex and Princeton. His books include Inside Hitler’s Greece: The Experience of Occupation, 1941-44, named Longman’s History Today Book of the Year, Dark Continent: Europe’s Twentieth Century, winner of the Bentinck Prize, and The Balkans: A Short History, awarded the Wolfson Prize for History. He comments regularly on international affairs for the Financial Times and other media. Salonica: City of Ghosts won both the Duff Cooper Prize and the Runciman Award and was shortlisted for The Hessell Tiltman Prize for History.
